No Experience Necessary! Carroll County offers training through Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute of University of MD and Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems free to our volunteers!
Operational members are “on-call” 24/7 and can respond to calls in 2 different ways!
Many of our volunteers live in town and respond to the station when they are available for calls. The department provides active members with pagers or a phone application to get notified of calls from anywhere. This is a great way to fit volunteering into a family life or busy schedule. Anyone can volunteer!
The Firehouse is open to members. We have a great space for relaxing and socialization, a work out room for personal fitness, and Wifi for homework or studying needs! Members can wait at the station to respond to incoming calls. Live out of town limits? This is a great option for you!
Not interested in responding on the trucks to emergencies? We have a job for you!
Social Members are adults who do not desire to, or are no longer able to, participate in fire and rescue activities. They may hold administrative positions, assist with fundraising, and help the company run like a well-oiled machine. Social Members can help with our many events as much or as little as they are available. Fire Engines are expensive! We have multiple events all year long and all help is appreciated in any capacity. We try to make fundraising fun for everyone that comes out to help!
Not old enough yet?
We all must start somewhere, some younger than others! The Junior Program is for anyone aged 12 to 15. This offers an excellent opportunity to learn teamwork skills, get a taste for fire department activities, and mature into responsible and community focused adults! This is a great way to earn service hours for school requirements.
