Our Auxiliary was organized on April 30, 1906, but in 1915 this Auxiliary was disbanded and a new one was formed in 1921 after the Fire Hall burned. The women of the community reorganized the present Auxiliary in October 1921 to help rebuild the fire hall. We are still active and helping the firemen in whatever way we can.

During carnival week, we work in the kitchen & sell French fries. We sell candy and baked goods at suppers and chance off articles. We give money to the firemen each year toward their expenses. Our canteen committee serves drinks and food when needed.

Our cheer committee sends gifts, flowers and cards to the sick and deceased.

We are very proud in our auxiliary for its part in helping to form the Carroll County Ladies Auxiliary in 1943. We have the honor of having the first County President, the late Mrs. Norma Wentz who served from 1943-1947.

In 1938 we joined the State Auxiliary. We were honored to have "June Black", one of our members serve as Jr. Vice President of the State Auxiliary. At that time we also had several members serving on State Committees.

In April 1985, the new addition to the fire hall was dedicated. Members of the Auxiliary pledged $50,000 toward their meeting room, bathrooms, coat room and canteen room. We gave the firemen $10,000 each year to meet our goal. In the past we also gave money toward a new roof at the activities building, for painting the kitchen and bathrooms, half of the cost of materials, labor and electrical work for walls and ceiling of activities building and donation for black - top around the building.

In 1986 the Manchester Ladies Auxiliary entered and won the State Fire Prevention Contest. Helen Miller won third prize. Helen also won second prize in 2000 for her fire prevention project.

In 1989, June Black served as President of the Maryland State Auxiliary after serving in each office on her way through the ranks. Each year we send delegates to County and State Auxiliary Meetings and Conventions.

In the late 1990's the Auxiliary helped the fire company purchase took for the new Rescue Squad and also a new Zoll Monitor for the Ambulance. The Auxiliary also gave $20,000.00 in 2001 to help refurbish the Activities Building and Training Center.

Each year we send delegates to County and State Auxiliary Meetings and Conventions. In May 2001 we were honored that one of our own members, Linda Black took the office of President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the CCVFA. During her year as President, Linda also held the office of Treasurer of the Manchester Ladies Auxiliary.

As of 2001 we have 14 Life Members, 19 Active, 2 withdraws, and 1 deceased member.
