The original Auxiliary was organized in 1906 but was later disbanded in 1915. In 1921, the Fire Hall burned down and the Women of the Community reorganized and formed a new Auxiliary, "Ladies Auxiliary to the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department", to help rebuild the fire hall. Several years ago the decision to allow men to join the Auxiliary was made, and in 2016 the organization officially changed the name and became the "Auxiliary to the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department."
Today, the Auxiliary supports the firemen in whatever way we can; hosting various events throughout the year, donating money to the Department itself, as well as donating time in Department hosted events.
The Auxiliary raises funds by catering various events including, but not limited to, fish fry's, banquets, receptions, reunions, anniversaries, weddings and funerals. In addition to these catering events, the Auxiliary also runs the Country Store, and aids at other stands, during the annual Manchester Carnival held at the beginning of each July.
The Auxiliary meets on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Manchester Fireman’s Activity Building.
